Last season, Galo finished as a mid-table team but ended up losing more matches than it won, with 12 victories, 14 defeats, and 12 draws. Atlético-MG saw some important names leave the squad for the new season. Left-back Guilherme Arana was signed by Fluminense, while midfielder Gabriel Menino was loaned to Santos. There are also uncertainties regarding the future of forward Hulk.

On the other hand, Galo went to the market and signed left-back Renan Lodi, who was a free agent after terminating his contract with Al-Hilal in September, and defensive midfielder Maycon, formerly of Corinthians. The club is also trying to bring back midfielder Fred from Fenerbahçe.

To finish in the G4 and secure a continental spot for 2027, Atlético-MG has odds of 3.75, higher than those of the previously mentioned rivals.
