Corinthians’ 2025 season summary
After fighting against relegation in 2024, the Corinthians side led by Ramón and Emiliano Díaz surged forward and secured a spot in the 2025 Copa Libertadores – in the preliminary phase, which starts earlier to determine the final teams entering the Group Stage. After nearly being eliminated by Universidad Central of Venezuela, the alvinegro was knocked out by Barcelona de Guayaquil, 3–2 on aggregate.
Needing to respond to the fans, the Timão defeated their archrival Palmeiras to win the Paulista Championship, ending a six-year title drought. Even so, the team’s performance was still below expectations and, after an inconsistent start in the Brazilian Championship and the Copa Sudamericana, the Díaz duo was dismissed.
To replace father and son, the board hired Dorival Júnior, recently dismissed from the Brazilian National Team. On the pitch, the improvement expected by the fans did not occur, resulting in an irregular Brazilian Championship campaign: Corinthians finished 13th, four points above the relegation zone.
But the Copa do Brasil showcased the club’s strength in knockout competitions: they secured their fourth title at the Maracanã, beating Vasco da Gama 2–1. The December 21 trophy came 16 years after their previous triumph in the tournament, when Ronaldo Fenômeno was the team’s striker.
What does the Corinthians squad look like in 2026?
Facing challenges to balance the budget and reinforce the squad, Corinthians comes off a year of a modest stance in the transfer market. Only left-back Fabrizio Angileri and forward Vitinho were signed, with additional reinforcements coming from Terrão academy graduates.
With the transfer window open, the list of players at CT Joaquim Grava may change in the coming days. In addition, the 2026 Copa São Paulo is still underway and might reveal youth players who could join the professional squad. For now, the current Corinthians squad is:
- Goalkeepers: Hugo Souza (26), Matheus Donelli (23), Felipe Longo (20), and Kauê (21);
- Full-backs: Matheuzinho (25), Jacaré (18), Matheus Bidu (26), and Hugo (28);
- Center-backs: André Ramalho (32), Gustavo Henrique (33), João Pedro Tchoca (22), Cacá (26), Félix Torres (28), and Gabriel Paulista (35);
- Defensive midfielders: Raniele (29), Ryan (22), José Martínez (31), Alex Santana (30), Charles (29), André (19), Bahia (20);
- Midfielders: Breno Bidon (20), André Carrillo (34), and Rodrigo Garro (28);

Corinthians’ squad changes in 2026
Corinthians experienced a key change regarding the 2026 squad: the end of the FIFA-imposed Transfer Ban, which had prevented the club from registering new players since August 12, 2025, due to a US$ 6.2 million debt with Santos Laguna of Mexico, related to the signing of center-back Félix Torres.
The club’s all-time top foreign scorer at Parque São Jorge, with 67 goals, and holder of six titles, forward Ángel Romero did not renew his contract. Left winger Talles Magno will return from his loan to New York City FC in the United States, and defensive midfielder Maycon nearly stayed permanently but accepted an offer from Atlético-MG.
Right-back Fagner was expected to return from his loan at Cruzeiro, but he terminated his contract to remain at Toca da Raposa on a permanent basis. Another potential departure is left-back Fabrizio Angileri, who has not yet reached an agreement to renew his contract, which expired in December.
Market value of the Corinthians squad
If executives can use Transfermarkt to evaluate players’ market values, then we certainly will not ignore such an important statistics platform. Although it does not account for release clauses or some of Football’s more subjective criteria, it remains a valuable benchmark. Overall, Corinthians has a squad with an average age of 26.3 years and a total valuation of €113 million.
Goalkeeper Hugo Souza, for example, is valued at €10 million, as he is currently in great form and has realistic chances of being selected for the Brazilian National Team at the World Cup. Felipe Longo, Matheus Donelli, and Kauê help the goalkeeper group reach a total valuation of €12 million (with an average age of 24.4).
The defense is the oldest sector, averaging 27.3 years. Matheuzinho and Matheus Bidu are the highest-valued among defenders at €6 million and €3 million, respectively. Altogether, the defensive unit is valued at €18.3 million.
Next, the midfield is valued at €36.6 million, with an average age of 26.6 years, combining experience and quality. The academy’s most promising talent in recent years, midfielder Breno Bidon, is the second-highest-valued player in the squad at €14 million, slightly ahead of Rodrigo Garro’s €12 million.
Finally, striker Yuri Alberto is the most valuable player at Corinthians: valued at €22 million, he helps push the attacking unit to €46.10 million. Memphis Depay is valued at €8 million, and at 31 years old, his presence contributes to the sector’s average age of 25.9, while playing a key role in bringing the total forward-line valuation to €46.1 million.

Four of these goals came from penalty kicks. In addition, two resulted from free kicks, 35 from shots inside the box and five from long-range attempts. In total, 19 goals were scored with the right foot, 11 with the left, and ten headers.
Top Scorers
Center-forward Yuri Alberto was Corinthians’ top scorer in 2025, with 19 goals: ten in the Brasileirão, five in the Paulistão, two in the Libertadores, and two in the Copa do Brasil. Right behind him is Memphis Depay with 12 goals — six in the league, three in the Copa do Brasil, two in the Paulistão, and one in the Sudamericana.
But who was the third-highest scorer for Corinthians in 2025? If we include those no longer on the roster, the answer is Talles Magno with six goals — five in the Paulistão and one in the Brasileirão. Next is another departed player: Ángel Romero with five (four in the state championship and one in the Copa do Brasil).
Since this content aims to help you understand what to expect from the team going forward, the third spot currently belongs to two players. Left-back Matheus Bidu scored five — two in the Copa do Brasil and one each in the Sudamericana, Paulistão, and Libertadores. Forward Gui Negão found the net three times in the league and twice in the Copa do Brasil.
Goal Frequency
It is no coincidence that Yuri Alberto holds the best offensive numbers, as he needs just 201 minutes per goal. He is followed by Memphis Depay, who needs 258 minutes, and academy product Gui Negão, who requires 325.
Shooting
Considering only the Brasileirão, Corinthians created 2.1 big chances per match (but missed 1.3). Dorival Júnior’s (and Ramón Díaz’s) team averaged 11.5 shots per game, broken into 3.6 on target, 4.8 off target and three blocked.

Expected Goals (xG), the metric used to gauge offensive efficiency, places Yuri Alberto at the top for Corinthians with 11.44. Memphis Depay follows with 6.49, and Talles Magno is third with 5.40 — or Gustavo Henrique with 2.94 if we count only current squad members.
Corinthians’ Passing Statistics in 2025
Assists
Memphis may not be the top scorer in 2025, but he leads the team in assists with ten — five in the Paulistão, three in the Brasileirão, and two in the Libertadores. He is followed by midfielder Rodrigo Garro, who battled injuries and registered six — three in the league and one each in the Paulistão, Libertadores, and Copa do Brasil. Matheuzinho has the same total, split evenly between the Brasileirão and Copa do Brasil.
Assist Totals
Corinthians recorded 45 total assists in 2025, according to Sofascore: 25 in the Brasileirão, 16 in the Paulistão, and three in the Sudamericana. It is worth noting that these numbers exclude penalties and direct free-kick shots.
xA
Expected Assists (xA) puts Rodrigo Garro at the top with 4.99. He is followed by Matheuzinho with 4.28, and Matheus Bidu with 4.10. This metric calculates the likelihood that a player converts a pass into a goal contribution, which can be complex for some fans.
Possession and Passing Volume
In the Brasileirão, Corinthians averaged 55.7 percent possession. The team completed 401 passes per match with 85.8 percent accuracy, including 180 passes in the attacking third (75.3 percent accuracy) and 219 in its own half (91.7 percent).
Long balls were completed at a 61.4 percent clip (24.2 per match), and crosses averaged 4.4 successful attempts at 24 percent efficiency.
Completed and Key Passes
The attack’s modest numbers are also linked to who completes the most passes per game: all three are defenders. André Ramalho led the team with 92 percent pass accuracy, followed by Gustavo Henrique with 90 percent. Matheuzinho ranked third at 86 percent.
The center-back duo also led in accurate long balls: Ramalho hit 4.6 per game and Gustavo Henrique 4.2. The third name shifts here, as Rodrigo Garro logged 2.9. The Argentine leads Corinthians in key passes per match: 2.6 — followed by Memphis and Bidu with 1.5 each.
Corinthians’ Defensive Statistics in 2025
Clean Sheets and Goals Conceded
Corinthians played 74 matches in 2025 and registered standout defensive numbers: 28 clean sheets — 11 in the Brasileirão, eight in the Copa do Brasil, six in the Paulistão, two in the Sudamericana and one in the Libertadores.
These numbers are especially impressive in the Copa do Brasil, where the team conceded just three goals total (0.3 per match on average). However, despite the league being the competition with the most clean sheets, it also featured the worst defensive rate: 1.2 goals conceded per match.
Overall, Corinthians conceded 75 goals in 2025 — averaging 1.1 per match, highlighting an area for improvement.
Tackles, Interceptions, and Clearances
Using league data only, Corinthians averaged 15.9 tackles per match, 7.6 interceptions, and 21.7 clearances, and recovered possession 42.3 times per game.
Matheuzinho led the team in tackles with 2.1 per match, followed by Raniele and Breno Bidon at 1.6 and 1.4. In interceptions, the same two lead with 1.2 and 1.0, followed by Bidu with 0.9.

The team received five red cards in the league: two for Martínez and one each for Charles, Bidon, and Romero.
Corinthians’ Goalkeeper Statistics in 2025
At 26 years old, Hugo Souza has found his place at Corinthians, and some fans even suggest he is already a club idol. Supporters barely had time to miss Cássio, as the Rio-born keeper has filled the legend’s shoes — literally, at 1.99 meters tall, three centimeters taller than the Fiel’s longtime giant.
Among his standout numbers, penalty saves deserve the most attention: he has stopped ten since arriving in mid-2024. In 2025, he denied six opposing shooters: Wallace and Gabriel Barbosa from Cruzeiro, and Gastón Benavídez from Athletico-PR in the Copa do Brasil, and Raphael Veiga and Estevão from Palmeiras and Pablo Dyego from Novorizontino in the Paulistão.
In the Brasileirão, he averaged 2.2 saves per match (58 total), with a 66 percent save rate. Hugo Souza also successfully charged off his line 100 percent of the time, averaging three interventions per match. He recorded nine clean sheets and conceded 25 goals from inside the box compared to just five from long-range efforts.
As for the backup goalkeepers, Felipe Longo overtook Matheus Donelli and became the primary substitute. However, the numbers indicate the gap is not that wide: Longo conceded ten goals versus Donelli’s six — with 90 percent coming from inside the area, whereas 50 percent of Donelli’s were long-range.
