In addition to watching the fastest cars in the world speed through the brightly lit streets, motorsport fans can also take the opportunity to place sports bets.
In a night race, the 2025 Las Vegas GP kicks off with practice sessions on Thursday night (20), followed by the race in the early hours of Sunday (23) Brasília time, which corresponds to Saturday night (22) local time. Before the engines roar, check out this guide prepared by Blaze to get you up to speed on every corner of this Grand Prix.
What Is the Las Vegas Grand Prix Like?
The Las Vegas GP has been part of Formula 1 since 2023. It uses a street circuit that passes through several of the city’s tourist hotspots, including the Las Vegas Strip, home to the most famous hotels and casinos in town.
With 6.201 kilometers in length, 17 corners, and 50 laps, the Las Vegas Street Circuit runs counterclockwise. Although it uses public streets, it features a dedicated area with permanent pit boxes and paddock facilities.
The first free practice session is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. local time (9:30 p.m. Brasília time) this Thursday (20). Qualifying takes place at 8 p.m. on Friday (21) in Las Vegas (1 a.m. on Saturday in Brasília). The race is held at night. Locally, it starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday (22). Brazilian fans should pay attention: the race starts at 1 a.m. Brasília time on Sunday (23).
Which Teams Are Competing in the Las Vegas GP?
Two of the season’s top drivers competing in Las Vegas are also the ones who have previously won this circuit. In 2023, during the Grand Prix’s debut, Dutchman Max Verstappen claimed victory for Red Bull Racing, while British driver George Russell earned first place for Mercedes in 2024.
Alongside them, Red Bull Racing also fields Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda, while Mercedes features Italian driver Kimi Antonelli. All teams will enter the race as usual.
McLaren also stands out with Australian Oscar Piastri and Briton Lando Norris, as does Ferrari, with Monegasque Charles Leclerc and British star Lewis Hamilton. Williams, Racing Bulls, Aston Martin, Haas, Kick Sauber, and Alpine round out the grid.
How Is the 2025 Formula 1 Season Going?
There isn’t much left to say about the teams, other than the fact that McLaren has already secured the championship since October. The British team clinched its tenth title ahead of schedule thanks to the outstanding performance of its two drivers.
Norris and Piastri are locked in a tight battle for the title. The Brit has 390 points, while the Australian sits at 366. Norris made a comeback and reclaimed the lead. But there is still a third driver in the fight: Max Verstappen.
The Red Bull Racing driver is third in the standings with 341 points. However, the four-time world champion could be eliminated from contention for a fifth title this weekend. To keep his chances alive, the Dutchman must keep the points gap to Norris below 58.
George Russell, from Mercedes, is no longer fighting for the title, with 276 points, and neither is Charles Leclerc, from Ferrari. Until recently, Lewis Hamilton was the last driver with a three-digit score, now sitting at 148.
Another driver has joined that select group: Kimi Antonelli. The Italian has been attracting attention. At 19 years old, he already has two podiums this season. In addition to finishing second at the São Paulo GP in early November, he took third place at the Montreal Grand Prix. He also earned other strong results, including fourth place in Australia, the season opener, and the same position in Azerbaijan.
He has finished sixth on five occasions and fifth once. Out of 22 races, he finished outside the top ten nine times, with four of those due to retirements from collisions or car issues.
Which Grands Prix Have Already Taken Place in the 2025 F1 Season?
So far, 21 Grands Prix have been held. The 2025 Formula 1 season began in Australia, with Lando Norris taking the victory. In China, Oscar Piastri won next, followed by Verstappen in Japan. The Australian achieved three straight podiums afterward, in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Miami.
F1 reached Europe at the Emilia Romagna GP, where Verstappen won. The drivers continued trading victories, with Norris triumphing in Monaco and Piastri in Spain. George Russell disrupted the rivalry in Canada, before Norris returned to the podium twice in Austria and Great Britain.
At the Belgian Grand Prix, Piastri won again, with Norris taking first place in Hungary. The Dutch Grand Prix went to Piastri. It was only after his home race that Verstappen returned to winning form, taking victories in Italy and Azerbaijan.
Russell claimed his second trophy in Singapore, with Verstappen winning in the United States. Lando Norris took the last two races, in Mexico City and São Paulo.
This year, Ferrari has only reached the podium seven times, all with Charles Leclerc. The driver has two second-place finishes and five third places. Hamilton finished fourth on five occasions and remains without a podium this season for the first time in 18 years.
After the race in Las Vegas, Formula 1 heads to the Middle East to close the season. The following weekend, between November 28 and 30, the Qatar Grand Prix will take place. The weekend after that marks the end of the 2025 season, with the Abu Dhabi GP scheduled for December 7.
Who Are the Favorites to Win the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix?
As usual this season, the same drivers are among the favorites to win the race. In Las Vegas, Max Verstappen currently has the best odds at 2.4, with Lando Norris close behind at 2.8. George Russell and Oscar Piastri follow with single-digit odds as well, at 5.0 and 6.5, respectively.
A new name appears among the frontrunners: 19-year-old Italian Kimi Antonelli. Of course, he remains far from the favorites for the season title, but his second-place finish at the São Paulo GP boosted his confidence. He now sits at 11.0 in the odds, ahead even of Charles Leclerc at 21.0 and Lewis Hamilton at 33.0.
When it comes to teams, McLaren — the early champion of the season — leads with 2.2. But with Verstappen highly rated, Red Bull stays close behind at 2.35. Mercedes, with Russell and Antonelli, comes next at 3.9. Ferrari, still without a win this season, sits at 12.0.
