When is the League of Legends tournament at the 2025 Esports World Cup?
According to the EWC schedule, the League of Legends competition kicks off at 6:00 a.m. (Brasília time) on Wednesday, July 16, with the group stage running through the next day. On Friday, July 18, the playoffs begin, leading up to the grand final on Sunday, July 20.
League of Legends has been part of the Esports World Cup since its inaugural edition in 2024 and is already confirmed for the next two seasons of the global esports tournament.
What is the format of the League of Legends tournament at the 2025 Esports World Cup?
The LoL tournament at the EWC has undergone some changes due to an increased number of teams. There are now two stages. The Group Stage features eight teams divided into Group A and Group B, ranked from 5th to 12th place. The top two from each group move on to the playoffs.
Waiting on the other side of the bracket are the top four seeded teams. From here on, it’s single elimination — one loss and you’re out, along with your shot at the $600,000 first-place prize and 1,000 Club Championship points.
The total prize pool is $2 million. Beyond the champion’s prize, the runner-up receives $320,000 and 750 points, third place gets $230,000 and 500 points, fourth place earns $160,000 and 300 points, while teams finishing 5th to 8th each take home $110,000 and 200 points.
But don’t worry — even the bottom four won’t go home empty-handed. Although they don’t earn Club Championship points, there are still cash prizes: 9th and 10th place receive $75,000 each, while the 11th and 12th placed teams receive $50,000 apiece.
