American Alycia Parks, who returns to the competition, is the current champion, having also won in 2022. Russian Vitalia Diatchenko won the first edition in 2021, and France’s Clara Burel claimed the title at home in 2023.
In doubles, Romania’s Monica Niculescu and Elena-Gabriela Ruse are the defending champions in Angers. Niculescu also won in 2023, but as the partner of Spain’s Cristina Bucșa. The Romanian was also runner-up in 2021.
Alycia Parks left with two trophies in 2022, as she won both singles and doubles, the latter alongside China’s Zhang Shuai, runner-up in singles in 2021. The first doubles champions, in 2021, were Slovakia’s Tereza Mihalíková and Belgium’s Greet Minnen.
The WTA 125 is a series of tournaments that features the sport’s second tier of players, just below the WTA Tour.
What is the format of the Open Angers Loire Trélazé 2025?
As is standard in most WTA competitions, the 2025 Open Angers follows a knockout format from the start. It brings together 32 singles players, beginning in the round of 32 and progressing to the final, along with eight doubles teams.
Each match is played in the best-of-three sets format. In addition to 125 ranking points for the winner, this year’s edition also features a total prize pool of USD 115,000.

At 24 years old and already a two-time champion of the tournament, Alycia Parks returns to Angers in search of another trophy on French soil. She is currently ranked No. 68 in the WTA. Also returning is China’s Zhang Shuai, ranked No. 16 and formerly world No. 2 in 2022.
The competition also marks the comeback, after injury, of Britain’s Katie Boulter—formerly world No. 23, now ranked No. 103—and Czech player Barbora Krejčíková. Krejčíková once reached world No. 2, won two Grand Slams, but a back injury sidelined her for six months. She is now ranked No. 65.
The other Czech player in the field is 19-year-old Nikola Bartůňková. Three Frenchwomen will play at home: Oceane Dodin, Elsa Jacquemont, and Tiantsoa Sarah. There are also three Russians competing without the national flag: Oksana Selekhmeteva, Kamilla Rakhimova, and Polina Kudermetova.
From the same nationality, Italy brings Lucia Bronzetti and Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Romania’s Elena-Gabriela Ruse, the reigning doubles champion, plays the singles tournament.
The player list also includes Croatia’s Antonia Ružić; Latvia’s Darja Semenistaja; Turkey’s Zeynep Sönmez; Switzerland’s Rebeka Masarova; Andorra’s Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva; Austria’s Julia Grabher; and Taiwan’s Joanna Garland.
Doubles
Of the doubles teams, four have been announced by the tournament. Britain’s Maia Lumsden pairs with the Netherlands’ Isabelle Haverlag. Italy’s Angelica Moratelli teams up with Spain’s Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers, while Czech Anna Sisková partners with Belgium’s Magali Kempen.
Czech players Jesika Malečková and Miriam Škoch form another team. Škoch was the doubles runner-up in 2022, when she played with Markéta Vondroušová.
