StarCraft 2 at the 2025’s Esports World Cup’s Schedule

The StarCraft 2 competition at the Esports World Cup kicks off on Tuesday, July 22, and features three distinct phases leading up to the grand finals on Friday, July 25. You can check the full bracket with real-time results on the official EWC 2025 website.

Starting with the Play-In, where four players compete for two spots, the first day already features intense clashes in the Group Stage — divided into two groups of eight players competing until July 24, with only half advancing.

The StarCraft II calendar wraps up with the Playoffs, which begin on July 24 with the Quarterfinals. Friday, July 25, will host the final stages of the tournament: Semifinals, the Grand Final, and the Third Place Match.

StarCraft 2 at the 2025’s Esports World Cup’s Format

Designed to bring together the elite of Activision Blizzard’s classic RTS, the intergalactic battlefield will feature the 18 winners of global qualifiers. In Riyadh, 18 commanders will compete using the traditional Upper and Lower Bracket format.

The StarCraft II Play-In kicks off with two matches — winners face off to determine the first spot in the next round (claimed by the Upper Bracket champion). Then, the two initial losers play each other, and the winner goes on to face the loser of the first qualifying match to fight for the second spot via the Lower Bracket.

The Group Stage follows the same logic: 16 players are divided into two groups and face off in a double-elimination format — where every mistake can be fatal. The phase includes Quarterfinals and Semifinals using Upper and Lower Brackets and eliminates half of the players.

The eight survivors move on to the Playoffs. Here, the format changes slightly: one loss and you’re out. All matches are best-of-five series—meaning at least three games are needed to determine who advances — starting with Quarterfinals, then Semifinals, the Grand Final, and the Third Place Match.

It’s worth noting that the total prize pool for StarCraft 2 at the Esports World Cup is $700,000, with all players receiving a share. The 18th place finisher will earn $7,500, while the champion takes home $200,000. In addition, the top eight players will earn Club Championship points for their organizations, ranging from 200 to 1,000.
