Why is the StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2025 important?
StarLadder is one of the most traditional tournaments in Counter-Strike 2 and in eSports in general, known for historic editions such as the StarLadder Major: Berlin 2019, where Astralis cemented itself as the only organization to win four Majors. That’s why the Fall 2025 edition in Budapest gains even more importance as a test for revamped rosters and teams seeking validation.
Beyond prestige, the tournament plays a strategic role: it serves as direct preparation for the next Major, which will also take place in Budapest between November and December this year. As such, it becomes the ideal stage to test playstyles and solidify tactical identities. Whoever shines here will carry strong momentum into future challenges.

Key changes in the StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2025
The biggest change for the 2025 edition is its more compact format: instead of regional qualifiers in South America, North America, and Europe, the participant selection was different — making for a shorter tournament and avoiding conflicts with other CS2 events.
Four teams qualified through the European Qualifiers: PARIVISION, OG, Gentle Mates, and 9INE, leaving 12 other teams behind. The remaining spots were determined via the Valve Regional Standings (VRS): NaVi, NIP, B8, and Passion UA, who enter based on their global ranking points.
It’s worth noting that the StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2025 is a stepping stone toward the Budapest Major, scheduled from November 24 to December 14 — with only Stage 3 tickets still available. Equivalent to the CS2 World Championship, the Major still has open qualification spots!
What’s the format of the StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2025?
Blink and it’s over. The StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2025 is a short tournament, with a format different from other CS2 Majors such as the BLAST Austin Major and Perfect World Shanghai Major. Instead of the Swiss System, the Fall 2025 edition uses a Double Elimination Bracket.
In this format, all teams start in the Upper Bracket, facing off in Best-of-Three (Bo3) matches. Winners advance to the Semifinals and Final, with one team crowned champion of the Upper Bracket.
All losing teams get a second chance in the Lower Bracket, as elimination only comes after a second loss. Teams that lose in the opening round start in Lower Bracket Round 1, battling to advance through the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Final — with the winner meeting the Upper Bracket champion.
Another key point is that the win condition doesn’t change, remaining Bo3 throughout. This format creates longer matches and rewards the team with the best mastery of the map pool, consisting of: Ancient, Dust II, Inferno, Mirage, Nuke, Overpass, and Train.
Which Teams Will Compete in the StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2025?
You’ve already seen the list of participating teams in the StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2025, but now it’s time to dive into the analysis:
Natus Vincere (NaVi)
Translating from Latin, the name means “born to win.” Natus Vincere (or NaVi) is ranked 9th in the world and comes into the StarSeries Fall 2025 looking to reclaim its dominance.
In 2025, NaVi only reached two semifinals (IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne) and suffered early exits at BLAST Open London and the Esports World Cup. That’s why b1t, Aleksib, iM, w0nderful, makazze, and B1ad3 will need to prove themselves to live up to their name.
Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP)
Another team ranked through the global standings, Ninjas in Pyjamas currently sits 21st and is undergoing a rebuild. Four players departed in the first half of the year, with r1nkle, ewjerkz, sjuush, Snappi, and Xizt joining, and in July, xKacpersky rounded out the roster.
During this transition, the team played tier-1 tournaments like PGL Astana and IEM Cologne, as well as smaller competitions like Glitched Masters 2025 and DraculaN Season 1, seeking rhythm and synergy.
B8
Currently ranked 27th worldwide, B8 is steadily gaining ground in the CS2 scene. The lineup unites Ukrainians npl, esenthial, headtr1ckm, alex666, and kensizor with Russian player Maddened.
Though they lack big results against elite teams, B8 has appeared in major events like IEM Cologne 2025 and BLAST.tv Austin Major. Still seen as dangerous underdogs, they could complicate things for bigger names.
Passion UA
Formed by four former Complexity players, Passion UA is one of the newest teams on the CS2 competitive scene. The North American organization, ranked 29th, is led by T.c and features Kvem, JT, Grim, hallzerk, and nicx.
Before the StarSeries Fall 2025, Passion only played DraculaN Season 1. Facing difficulties and failing to win, they’ll need significant improvement to succeed in Budapest.
PARIVISION
Led by Jame, Major champion at IEM Rio 2022 and ex-Virtus.pro player, PARIVISION spent 2025 rebuilding its roster and gaining experience through European qualifiers.
Now ranked 28th globally, the team is trying to consolidate competitiveness after three roster changes this year, showing its ongoing pursuit of stability and chemistry.
Team OG
Like NIP, OG is in a rebuilding phase. After a strong run at the BLAST.tv Austin Major, where they surprised by reaching Stage 2, the team struggled to maintain results and began reshaping its identity.
Currently ranked 30th by HLTV, OG is looking to turn recent roster moves — Buzz and F1KU out, adamb and arrozdoce in — into tangible results.
Gentle Mates
After surprising by beating legendary team fnatic to qualify, Gentle Mates (formerly Iberian Soul) arrive in Budapest as representatives of CS’s new Spanish generation.
The all-Spanish roster, ranked 32nd in the HLTV global standings, had already shown consistency in smaller tournaments and now has the chance to prove itself on a bigger stage.
9INE
Sitting 40th in the HLTV rankings, 9INE enters the StarSeries Fall 2025 as the biggest underdog. Qualifying through the European Qualifier, they’ll face NaVi — the title favorite — in their opening match, making their challenge monumental from the very first map.
