Seattle Seahawks
This will be the Seattle Seahawks’ 4th appearance in the Super Bowl. The team played in 2005, 2013 and 2014, winning only in 2013. To reach another final, the Washington state team competed in the NFC West Division.
Within the division, the Seahawks finished on top. They recorded 14 wins and three losses in the regular season, scoring 483 points and allowing 292. These results earned the team the best record in the conference and a direct spot in the Divisional Playoffs.
There, they faced the San Francisco 49ers and won 41–6. In the NFC Championship Game, they defeated the LA Rams once again, this time in a tighter matchup, by 31–27. As a result, the team became conference champions and now competes in Super Bowl LX.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are heading to their 12th Super Bowl appearance. The franchise has six titles (2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016 and 2018) and finished as runners-up on five other occasions.
As a member of the AFC, the Patriots faced closer competition in the standings. The Massachusetts team won 14 games, lost three, scored 490 points and conceded 320, but finished behind the Denver Broncos due to the tiebreaker of common games, which compares results against the same opponents.
As a result, the New England Patriots had to play in the Wild Card Playoffs, facing the LA Chargers. The Patriots’ 16–3 victory advanced them to the Divisional Playoffs, where they defeated the Houston Texans 28–16.
In the AFC Championship Game, which secured their spot in the Super Bowl, the team faced the Denver Broncos. In that matchup, the Patriots came out on top, clinching qualification with a 10–7 win.
Head-to-Head History
Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots have faced each other 10 times in NFL history, according to Sofascore data. The Seahawks hold seven wins, while the Patriots have three.
The teams’ first meeting took place in 1977, with a 31–0 win for the New England Patriots. The most recent game, in 2024, ended with a 23–20 victory for the Seattle Seahawks.
