UFC 322: Check out the title fights between Della Maddalena and Makhachev, Shevchenko and Weili, and the best odds for all bouts!

Another night full of intense fights and breathtaking action awaits MMA fans at UFC 322.

UFC 322: Della Maddalena vs. Makhachev is not just the title fight between the two athletes who headline the event. On Saturday night (15), another belt will be on the line in the co-main event between Shevchenko and Weili. And you can be part of it all by placing your sports bets.

The mixed martial arts event, the MMA, will take place at Madison Square Garden, the iconic New York venue. It is the 9th UFC held there and the 12th in the city. Including the prelims, everything starts at 8 p.m. (Brasília time), but the main card is scheduled for midnight.

Before the clock strikes midnight, you can already get ready and stay tuned for the fights with this detailed Blaze guide to UFC 322.

Jack Della Maddalena vs. Islam Makhachev

Australian Jack Della Maddalena, 29, won his welterweight title in May of this year. On that occasion, at UFC 315, he defeated the Palestinian-American Belal Muhammad.

Now he faces his first title defense, against Russian Islam Makhachev, 34. The biggest difficulty of this fight is the fact that the challenger already held his own belt. Makhachev was the lightweight champion, moved up a division and now seeks to join the list of fighters who became champions in different weight classes.

UFC experts expect a contrast of styles inside the octagon. While Della Maddalena prefers mid- and close-range fighting, relying on boxing, Makhachev focuses more on kicks and takedown entries.

Fighters’ track record

On his way to the title, Jack Della Maddalena achieved eight victories, five of them quickly, including a come-from-behind knockout against the Brazilian Gilbert “Durinho” Burns. His record shows 18 wins and only two losses.

Born in Dagestan, the Russian boasts an impressive 27 wins and just one loss. He claimed the lightweight belt in October 2022 against Brazilian Charles do Bronxs and defended it four times, winning all of them.

Who will win UFC 322?

Although he holds the welterweight belt, Jack Della Maddalena will not have an easy fight at this UFC. The Australian faces a tough opponent. Despite being new to the division, Islam Makhachev is the clear favorite to leave with the belt. The odds list the Russian at 1.34, against 3.05 for the current champion.

Valentina Shevchenko vs. Zhang Weili

A two-time flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko, from Kyrgyzstan, will have her belt challenged by Zhang Weili, the first Chinese UFC champion. The bout is the co-main event of UFC 322.

While Valentina, 37, once lost the title and later regained it, Weili arrives as a newcomer to the flyweight division. The 35-year-old Chinese fighter is chasing the dream of becoming a two-division champion. She previously competed at strawweight before moving up.

For experts in the sport, the octagon will host two very different profiles of MMA. Shevchenko, who was once a professional boxer and kickboxer, is expected to focus on long-range reads and takedown defense. The Chinese challenger should push striking exchanges and impose volume.

Fighters’ track record

Valentina Shevchenko first won the flyweight title in 2018 and held it until 2023. She fought Mexican Alexa Grasso three times. In the first bout, she lost the belt.

Then, they fought to a draw, and Shevchenko regained the title in their third encounter in 2024. She has seven title defenses in total. Her record stands at 25 wins, four losses and one draw.

Zhang Weili was long considered one of the greatest fighters at up to 52 kg. In August 2025, she announced she would move up in weight, and the belt was officially vacated in October. The Chinese fighter won the title in 2022 and had three successful defenses. Her record includes 26 wins — 11 by knockout and eight by submission — and only three losses.

Who will win the women’s fight at UFC 322?

There is some balance in this matchup. But with Valentina Shevchenko already a veteran in the flyweight division, the odds give her the advantage. She is listed at 1.7 to win, against 2.05 for Zhang Weili, who cannot be underestimated as a former champion seeking new challenges.

UFC 322 prelims

Initially, American bantamweight Malcolm Wellmaker was scheduled to face Ukrainian Serhiy Sidey to open the prelims. He suffered an injury and was replaced by Australia’s Cody Haddon, who also got injured. The fight will now be against newcomer Ethyn Ewing of the USA, which moved the bout to featherweight.
